The Story of Apostle Peter in the Bible: Who was Simon Peter in the Bible?”
“Hello, dear ones, how are you? Welcome, everyone, to another video on our Bible Stories channel. In today’s video, I will be presenting to you the story of one of the apostles of Jesus Christ, the apostle Peter, also known as Simon Peter. Stay with me until the end of the video and understand more about this beautiful story of the word of the Lord.
It’s good, Simon. Peter was one of the disciples closest to Jesus. He was one of the most active apostles in spreading the gospel. The Bible reveals many details about this fisherman who later became a fisher of men. In Luke, Chapter 15, and Verse 8, you can find this.
Simon Peter was born in Bethsaida, the son of Jonas or John, a fisherman, and also a kind of partner with James and John, sons of Zebedee. You can check in Luke, Chapter 15, and Verse 10. Simon Peter worked on the shores of the Sea of Galilee alongside his brother Andrew, who also introduced him to the Messiah. If you’re in John, Chapter 1, from Verse 40 to 41.
The Bible tells that Jesus invited Simon to follow him and nicknamed him Cephas, an Aramaic name corresponding to Peter in Greek, meaning stone, rock, or even gravel. And if you’re in John, Chapter 12, Verse 42. Hello, Peter, as he was nicknamed, was an impulsive and rough man but in constant transformation.
Notice that Jesus did not choose a perfect Peter. This is a detail that should be observed because throughout Peter’s journey with Jesus, he was transformed into a new man. His first experience with Jesus, after the sermon in the boat, was significant. Jesus asked Peter to cast the nets. Peter objected but obeyed Jesus’ word. When he pulled the net, he caught a large number of fish, even with the help of James and John’s boat, which almost sank. And if you’re in Luke, Chapter 5, Verse 6 to 7.
After this marvel, Peter left everything he had—his nets, his boat—and started following Jesus. Peter had a gift for leadership and quickly became a spokesperson for the disciples in relation to Christ. Due to this innate talent, he was often tested by Jesus.
Peter always took the initiative and did not hesitate to ask any kind of question to the Lord, even questioning Him. In one of these inquiries, he said he would never deny the Lord and also claimed that Christ should not die on the cross. He was rebuked by Jesus, who said, ‘Get behind me, Satan.’ And you can check this in Matthew, Chapter 15, and Matthew, Chapter 18, Verse 21 to Verse 2012.
Peter had his mother-in-law healed, as mentioned in Matthew, Chapter 8, Verse 14 and 15. He paid the tax with money found in a fish’s mouth, according to Matthew, Chapter 17, Verse 24 to 27. Peter also saw Jesus transfigured in Matthew, Chapter 17, Verse 1 to 2.

  1. Jesus told Peter, it was upon Peter's confession, that He is the Christ, the son of the living God, that He (Jesus), would build his church. Peter's statement was the rock the church was built on.
Paul did more to build the church. Most of the books in the NT are letters by him to various churches instructing them and teaching them. Only two letters from Peter.
As far as Peter being crucified upside down. There is no written record of it. There is an alternative death explanation. It doesn't make sense to me that Peter would choose to be crucified upside down. Peter obviously saw hundreds of people crucified by the Romans in his lifetime. Why would he think he isn't worthy to be crucified the same way as Jesus when thousands of others were crucified that way. It doesn't make sense to me. Maybe he died die upside down but I'm not one to believe it. There is no record of Peter visiting Rome. In one of his epistles, Peter mentions he is in Babylon.

  2. Peter said to Jesus, Lord I will go to prison for your sake and will lay down my life for you, and Jesus looked at him and said "will you lay down your soul"? And after true repentance, he did it as martyr of Christ!!! Thank you Lord for your true servant, apostol Peter!!!❤🌍🕊
