Jesus said, “I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of him that sent me” (John 6:38):
So if Jesus has his own will, how can he be God? It is because he's not God. Jesus completely denies himself and does only the Father’s will, as he tells us to do in Luke 14:33. In John 8:26-27, Jesus said “I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that SENT ME is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have HEARD OF HIM.” But just like today, people understood not that he spoke to them of the Father. Jesus came to destroy the works of Satan and pay recompense for our sins–to advocate for us–so that we can return to God the Father from whom we originated. And the only way this can happen is to listen and do what Jesus said and did; we must give up all of who we are to follow Jesus and to serve only God the Father, just as he did (Luke 4:8).
