I've been hunting since my teens (I'm only 50). I bought my bow a year and a half ago and I'm still not hunting with it yet. I'm almost good enough but keep dropping every 5th or 6th shot. Not willing to risk wounding an animal until I'm ready.
Good on JR for acknowledging that his bow hunting runs along a similar vein, as it is taking on the challenge of a hunt with a different tool than mainstream rifle hunters.
I agree with joe, with a bow more than likely it’s going to go deeper inside the animal and they will normally will go into shock. Spear it’s going to take longer now if you have a gun back up then that’s different.

A spear is a very effective thing.
