  1. Was there some dude named Jesus walking around preaching back then? Sure, it was not an uncommon name. Would his words survive to this day? Not a chance. It is far more likely that the christian church was created as a response to the more powerful pagan faiths of the time. To combat them, to gather power and influence. Every religion needs a figurehead, so they invented one, gave him super powers, and told everybody he was the biggest and strongest and if you don't believe in him you will suffer great punishment. This was often enforced at the tip of a spear or on the edge of a sword. Xtianity is all BS, just like every other religion. It is not special, unique, or any better than any others. The reason people in the west are generally xtians is not because the faith contains any truth, it's because we are surrounded by xtians from birth. Muslims grow up in muslim countries so they become muslims. Buddhists become buddhists, hindus hindus, and vikings vikings, etc. The tenets of xtianity were largely borrowed from older faith traditions, dressed up to make sense to the local community, and spread through violence, just like every other religion. "My god is bigger and stronger than your god is. He is the ONLY god and he rules from on high and is so powerful that you better believe or you will be punished. No, you don't want to change to our faith? Here are my armies that say otherwise."

Why would you want to worship a psychotic murderous rapist that has sentenced his creations to a life of pain and suffering anyway? Think about it: god created everything knowing that we would break his rules then punished us and went on a rampage of death and destruction before murdering his only begotten son in the cruelest way possible so that he could forgive us for doing the things he created us to do. Xtianity does not make one bit of sense.

  2. Water was generally unsafe to drink. Wine contained the calories they needed and people didn't often die horribly and painfully from diseases like when drinking unclean water. The process of fermentation kills most if not all of the pathogens that were carried in the water used.
