  1. Ter Beja777 – Your comment about your Mom shows spiritual maturity. Too many adult children today hear recommendations to cut off ties with toxic people. Their parents are the first estranged. While no parent is perfect, neither are the children perfect. More often than not, I see adult children cutting off ties with their parents to avoid taking responsibility for their own selfish and abusive behavior toward their parents. When the parent sets a healthy boundary, the adult child will claim they are toxic, and cut them out of their lives to avoid the truth of their own toxic behavior.

  2. I have a sister-in-law who is a very bitter and destructive person. She has verbally attacked me and tried to put doubts in my mind about my husband's love for me. This started 32 years ago and I'm sure that, if she didn't live across country, it would be a difficult relationship to this day. I took the advice of a Christian friend who told me to forgive her and to dust my shoes off as Jesus told the apostles to do when they encountered people who were difficult. I feel much better without her in my life but I pray for her and her family and ask for God's blessings over her; and, I wish her well because this is as much as I can humanly do for her.
