I don´t know why we have to be cautioned about reading other books! They are our heritage also! and we have the Holy Spirit to guide us… if anything these other books have led me closer to the Creator, I believe they are scripture too, the Torah is the truth but not all the truth why? Because criminals through the centuries have taken it away from us and deleted it from our holy texts, these people are called the Jesuits.
