except those that claim to be strong/independent/self sufficient, ARENT. the rich receive the most welfare on every level.
The problem is this mindset is great when it's voluntary–you and yours helping anyone you can. That falls apart when you rise up to the macro scale of the federal government and start perverting incentives with redistribution and bloated bureaucracy. You stop helping people at that point. Voluntarism is the only way.
