Since the beginning of civilization, dolls have been beloved by children, cherished by collectors and used in religious rites as conduits for both goodβ¦ and evil. Well, thatβs what the Conjuring Movie Universe would have you believe anyway. And sure, why not? The Assyrians once believed that a person could be harmed by manipulating effigies in archaic rituals, whilst the Egyptians held to the notion that a person could be cursed by writing magic symbols upon sculptures made of wax, mud and limestone. So itβs not totally out of left field that the Conjuringβs Annabelle – a creepy, god forsaken porcelain nightmare if I ever saw one, was conceived.

Except for one teeny tiny problem… Annnd Its not so much a problem right now, as it may be one down the road, but… The Warrens are dead now. Ed died in 2006, and Lorraine died in 2019… If memory serves, their son elected to sell all the stuff in their collection… It was bought by a private collector, and I think they bought everything, but mistakes can happen, ya know? So… ya know… its totally plausible that this infernal effigy could one day make it back out into the public… Again… Annd ah… I don't wanna be here for Evil Doll 2: Electric Boogaloo…
After all, there's no gaurentee that the new owner would keep the same precautions in place as the Warrens did…

Why didn't they just go with a regular Raggedy Annie doll? It would be closer to the real Annabelle and would give off the innocent vibes, that would be a lot more eerie. A cute, little doll to let the audience fall into a scare.
I wonder if Annabelle had hypnotizing powers because why else would anyone look at Anna and think "Oh shoot, my daughter definitely deserves this BS?" π€£π
