The Assyrians once believed that a person could be harmed by manipulating effigies in archaic rituals, whilst the Egyptians held to the notion that a person could be cursed by writing magic symbols upon sculptures made of wax, mud and limestone. So it’s not totally out of left field that the Conjuring’s Annabelle – a creepy, god forsaken porcelain nightmare if I ever saw one, was conceived.

Tbh I have done research into the lesser keys of Solomon and it does show you symbols of how demons can be summoned but I wonder if each demon needs a conduit to be physical in the real world to fulfill the desires of the summoner it's a theory because these are old books and there is still no information of how you can control demons like Solomon did so it's possible to assume a conduit or a totem something that can harbor a demons spirit would possibly be the case
The terrifying thing about possession stories and such is that they are easy to dismiss as bunk. At most, you get an eerie feeling. But one of the greatest assets attributed to the devil is that his greatest feat is convincing the world he doesn’t exist. It’s beneficial to demons to be dismissed as fairy tale and nonsense. They work from the shadows after all.
