To be fair evolution and Big Bang theory do not contradict the scriptures. Science proves more than it disproves them. Genesis 1 explains the creation of the world. Genesis 2 explains the creation of the set apart Garden and set apart man and woman, Adam and Eve. Nothing says how long it actually took to go from Genesis 1 to Genesis 2. All we know is that the story of ultimately Israel, started in genesis 2 and Adam and Eve.
