Most everything revolves around extortion.
What you're describing is Sinister. Just so a small group of people can legally extort the few that can afford to pay. That's what happens when you privatise imprisonment and the collection of fines, bail. The whole thing becomes an industry where some people make mega bucks out of arresting and ultimately sending people to prison. In prison towns the majority of the local community is dependant on the prison for thier livelihood, the local economy would collapse if you close the prison, this affects how they'll vote, what policies they'll support and all of a sudden you have all these positive feedback loops set up to perpetuate a fundamentally corrupt or at least hopelessly flawed system
Not to mention if you show up to court from jail your chances of conviction are hugely elevated from your ability to defend yourself but also straight out jury bias
Here’s a fucking idea. TELL THESE FUCKING PEOPLE TO STOP MAKING POOR CHOICES AND BREAKING LAWS. You don’t just get to BE A CRIMINAL with no fucking consequences. Comparing the blacks in jail to the slavery days is absurd as black people being only 12-13% of the population make up FIFTY PERCENT of all violent crimes. There’s a reason so many are in jail. It’s not cuz they’re just poor sad victims. They’re CRIMINALS. JESUS. GEORGE FLOYD WAS A CRIMINAL AS WELL
“A lot of people are there in jail just cuz they’re poor” is SO disingenuous to reality I can’t take anymore of this crap. So you’re saying she didn’t break multiple laws to GET the tickets that she didn’t pay? I’m not one for tickets. But to act like she was “put in jail because she was poor” is such an egregious statement it makes me not take anything these two bozos say seriously.
