Gen 2:4 These are the births of the heaven and the earth WHEN they WERE CREATED IN THE DAY <- YOM ->( Light called day) that Yahauh Elohim MADE earth and heavens. He evens says HE created in light, then came to be an evening and morning Day 1. Then in the the light of day He separated the waters etc.. and then came to be an evening and a morning day 2 complete. He did not create out of darkness or from darkness. He says He created in light! His words not mine!
My main question is in scripture I believe in exodus it says the new year begins when the barley is aviv and we see a new moon. Can you explain that please.
This has been so confusing. I see both camps so I fall on the side of Friday evening to Sunrise Sunday.
The main reason for knowing when God says the next day starts is because of the Sabbaths (weekly and annual). For each of these, God is abundantly clear in His instructions: it begins at sunset in the evening, goes through the nighttime, the daytime, and ends at sunset in the evening. Any argument of "no but x, y and z implies…" is rejection of what God has very plainly stated regarding what He has instructed about how and when to keep His Sabbaths. Sure, I understand that the way that the western world's weeks are set up means that we're working to earn a living until the Sabbath is nearly upon us, instead of cutting what should be the sixth (instead of fifth) working day a bit short, so we can be prepared for the start of the Sabbath, so it would be nice to have a bit more time up our sleeves, and a morning start to the Sabbath would be nice, so I understand why people want it to be from morning to morning. However, that isn't how God said it is to be kept, and He probably set it up knowing that the world would twist things to make them difficult for us, specifically to test us to see if we would keep the Sabbath as He commanded, despite any difficulties that might arise because of it. I understand these difficulties because I work for non-believers from Monday to Friday, and on top of that, my wife is a non-believer and she always wants me to go grocery shopping on the Sabbath, and gets annoyed when I politely say that it's the Sabbath, and that I'll do it after sunset on Saturday, or on Sunday. I understand the difficulties, after all, my wife is a non-practicing Muslim, and she's extremely uncomfortable with me doing things that resemble Judaism, so I probably face more difficulty on the matter than most people would, however God has instructed us to worship Him in a certain way, and it isn't for us to say "yeah, but what about x, y and z." It's in black and white: Sabbaths are to be kept from sunset to sunset.
