Not for reasons they think, but for undermining the words of Jesus by calling him God and thus calling him a liar. Jesus said “He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me [the Father], hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). The most important thing about reading the word is to listen to what Jesus is saying about the Father. Those who call Jesus ‘God’ are rejecting the one true God, who is the Father. There is no verse that says Jesus is God; not a single one. Jesus told us who is the one true God and that is the Father (John 17:3). You must know both the Father and Jesus, or you will miss eternal life.
