  1. I'm not against electric vehicles, but a lot of stuff needs to change before we decided to ramp up to a large majority of our population driving them. I'd say number 1. Would be power, We've made great strides in providing cheap electricity in this country, however the grid couldn't even handle probably 15% of a given area going electric. Nixon actually had a plan while he was president to have the country completely nuclear powered by the year 2000, he wanted every county to pretty much have their own grid and own nuclear power generation, some large some small "of course". Nuclear is the only real option because the reaction can be slowed down or sped up to match power needs, where no other system other than solar battery bank system could do that. Every other plant is fired up and generates pretty much the same power constantly, that's why many area's get power warnings in the summer during a heat wave. 2. We have to find a different battery system, this is self explanatory, lithium batteries are not recyclable, not only that breaking them down and safely disposing of said components is costly. Imagine going to "scrap" your electric vehicle only to be given a big bill at the scrap yard.

    3. The cost has to become dramatically cheaper. Tesla is the only manufacture with a electric vehicle that can drive a good distance on a charge, every other companies vehicles might as well be limited to your local area. My neighbor works for a ford dealership, and said his boss drove the vehicle to a city 65 miles away, and drove back. When he got back the lot it had 2% charge "It was a ford Lighting truck". I don't know the exact life span of a Tesla, but I'd say you'd have dramatically reduced charge by year 10, and as we know getting the battery's replaced isn't worth it. So as for now days, if you buy a Ford, GMC, Ram product you should even with heavy driving get about 15 plus years for the same or a lower price tag than a Tesla. You can argue fuel cost, cost to maintain, or whatever. I get that electric vehicles don't need oil changes, it's pretty much just tires as maintenance, however the lack of aftermarket parts seems to really kill any savings you could get out of it, if you need shocks, struts, or anything at all worked on you are paying the dealer to fix it.

I'm a advocate for using multiple forms of energy, but I feel like Elon as much of a fan as I am, is going to kill the electric car industry. Ford, GM, ect already have went through the fire storm of making tech they can only work on, people don't want it, they resent it, they get pissed. So when you're trying to convince a farmer, or someone that isn't the "key audience" to buy some electric trucks, and they see articles about the dealer only being able to work on said vehicle and it can take weeks to get in they are going to laugh because they have already been fighting the tractor manufactures on the same thing.

Also I get that carbon emission is greatly higher to build a EV, but as the years go on they make up for it in not using oil, and burning fuel, however once say 20% of the USA is driving a EV, how big of a ordeal is scrapping lithium going to become? All valid questions to ask.

  2. This was such a cringe video to watch.. hes had Elon on this show twice and hes asking these guys that arent experts on the matter. Its almost like hes talking shit behind his back. We are still on โ€œthe grid cant handle itโ€ in 2023?? You still on the โ€œit takes 3 hours to charge outsideโ€ in 2023?? Joe needs to lay off the booze and drugs.

  3. to answer their question about gas vehicles being outlawed in california, they have already started outlawing semi trucks that are over a certain number of model years old there. they will not issue registration for gas/diesel vehicles once they get this going, and once the market for gas drops out, the gas stations will all disappear. fuel will get too expensive and they will roll off old model years that can no longer be road registered. the only gas vehicles left will be hobby cars and race cars and you will have to drive an hour to the one single gas station to get fuel for it
