No. That's not what Revelation has been talking about all along. Sorry. If John merely wanted to encourage the Christians of his day, he would have said ''Take heart, and hold true to the faith. God loves you, and so do I. Done.'' No-one writes such a vastly-complex and intertextual eschatological prophecy set if they merely intend to encourage a persecuted group.
