When evaluating the anti-weight pill the side-effects have to be compared to the detrimental effects of being obese.
It only needs to be better than being obese, to be a net positive. Of course, people should eat less, and that’s obviously preferable, but some people seem to lack the will power, so for them it’s better to be thin on a pill with side effects than obese.
I remember back in the late 80s my mother buying all fat free food, especially cookies and she’d eat the whole box. But she couldn’t figure out why she wasn’t losing weight…
