  1. Churches and their members need to be careful when reopening. A Church of Jesus with 240,000 members was the center of Covid infections in South Korea. The founder is now the subject of possible murder charges. A large majority of the country’s more than 7,500 Covid patients are members of his Christian church in Daegu. The church is linked to the spread of the Covid in South Korea, one of the largest then outbreaks outside China. “The church's pastors and preachers offer Bible studies, hopes of an eternal life, counseling and friendship but it is a con job" say former members who believed leaving the Christian Church "was a fight against Satan." They were taught their beliefs were better than everyone else. They were taught to be judgmental, not to listen to those that don't believe as they do. Nonbelievers would suffer eternal damnation. They became mentally isolated from worldly views. They were taught to die for their beliefs and not to be afraid of Covid. The church is now being accused of brainwashing. One former member said, "It’s embarrassing now to admit it, but when I first saw the church's founder, I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I wept. Now I realize he is just a plain old religious con man." The Church of Jesus uses psychological techniques to control its members similar to Nazi Germany and communist governments in China and Russia. Brainwashing, thought and mind control, reduces its subjects' ability to think critically and independently, and changes their attitudes, values and beliefs using terror management techniques such as burning in hell for not doing what they're told. The Chinese term xǐnăo,"wash brain" was originally used to describe the coercive persuasion used under the Maoist government in China, which required followers to cleanse and wash their hearts and minds, similar to Christian baptisms. The Church of Christ in Korea made the convert afraid of burning in hell to destroy independent critical thinking. They compromised the converts freedom of choice and action by modifying their perception, motivation, cognition and behavioral outcomes. The Church of Christ's brainwashing brought religious converts into submission and surrender resulting in disease and death to its converts and the surrounding communities.

    Last July in the United States churches were eager to reopen. But the virus infiltrated Sunday services, church meetings and youth camps. Pastors and their families tested positive, as have church ushers, front-door greeters and churchgoers. In Texas, about 50 people contracted the virus after a pastor told congregants they could once again hug one another. In Florida, a teenage girl died after attending a youth party at her church. Among 92 attendees at a rural Arkansas church in March, 35 got Covid and three died. In Massachusetts more than 200 got Covid from one church. In North Carolina more than 1,000 cases of covid and 13 deaths were linked to religious services. Religious gatherings have seen the largest increase in Covid cases since late September. To date, 464,662 Americans have died of Covid in the United States. Churches need to be mindful of what science has taught us about Covid, how it spreads and how to prevent it. There has been too much suffering and death.

  2. Galatians 4:21-31

    Hagar and Sarah

    21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.

    24 These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. 27 For it is written:

    “Be glad, barren woman,
    you who never bore a child;
    shout for joy and cry aloud,
    you who were never in labor;
    because more are the children of the desolate woman
    than of her who has a husband.”[e]
    28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.”[f] 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

  3. to devote our time to evangelizing the world while neglecting the church, would be a criminal act, one of highest treason both to God and to His people. The church must first be saved from her Laodicean condition of being "wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." She, not the world, is just about to be spued out. She "is the only object on earth on which He bestows His supreme regard."–Testimonies to Ministers, p. 15.The message to the church of the Laodiceans is a startling denunciation, and is applicable to the people of God at the present time. {3T 252.1}
    "And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." {3T 252.2}
    The Lord here shows us that the message to be borne to His people by ministers whom He has called to warn the people is not a peace-and-safety message. It is not merely theoretical, but practical in every particular. The people of God are represented in the message to the Laodiceans as in a position of carnal security. They are at ease, believing themselves to be in an exalted condition of spiritual attainments. "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." {3T 252.3}
    What greater deception can come upon human minds than
    253
    a confidence that they are right when they are all wrong! The message of the True Witness finds the people of God in a sad deception, yet honest in that deception. They know not that their condition is deplorable in the sight of God. While those addressed are flattering themselves that they are in an exalted spiritual condition, the message of the True Witness breaks their security by the startling denunciation of their true condition of spiritual blindness, poverty, and wretchedness. The testimony, so cutting and severe, cannot be a mistake, for it is the True Witness who speaks, and His testimony must be correct. {3T 252.4}
    It is difficult for those who feel secure in their attainments, and who believe themselves to be rich in spiritual knowledge, to receive the message which declares that they are deceived and in need of every spiritual grace. The unsanctified heart is "deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked." I was shown that many are flattering themselves that they are good Christians, who have not a ray of light from Jesus. They have not a living experience for themselves in the divine life. They need a deep and thorough work of self-abasement before God before they will feel their true need of earnest, persevering effort to secure the precious graces of the Spirit. {3T 253.1}
