1. Warning, this comment is a bit long, trying to convey a lot of information. Note that my purpose here is NOT to insult or demean anyone, other than those with YouTube channels and websites pushing the obvious lie that the earth is flat. I am trying to educate people as to what reality is.

   I need to also clarify that when I use the term "ignorant" I do NOT mean that someone is stupid or unintelligent, but that they lack knowledge in a particular area. People like me who understand how the earth, solar system, and universe work sometimes use the term "flerfer" instead of "flat earth believer", saves typing. I will try to avoid using it to avoid seeming disrespectful.

   I do NOT "believe" that the earth is a spheroid about 7960 miles in diameter, orbiting an average star we call the Sun in a heliocentric solar system. I KNOW with absolute certainty that these FACTS are true, and I am providing a few pieces of evidence from the huge mountain of evidence that man has acquired over the last 2,500 years.

   Let me start by saying that when it comes to astronomy, cosmology, geology, geography, physics, and related subjects, I don't accept anything from the Bible or any other religious scripture that conflicts with the body of scientific knowledge humanity has accumulated over the past two or three millennia. These are works of religious faith, not scientific texts. Most of them were written by ancients before most of the facts about the earth, solar system, and universe were even known.

   I will also not accept the "all NASA images are CGI" lie, that is also provably wrong.

   Also, the idea that most of the scientists who ever lived are part of some vast conspiracy to hide the "facts" that the earth is flat and covered by a "firmament dome" is simply delusional.

   If you believe your so called "biblical cosmology" that says that the universe was created in seven 24 hour days about 10,000 years ago, and consists of an immovable flat disk covered by a "firmament dome", then we have a problem. In this case you must also believe that God plays tricks on us, because there is literally NO evidence for any of this, while there is a ton of evidence for the universe being around 13.5 BILLION years old, with our spherical earth in a heliocentric solar system about 4.5 BILLION years old. To be clear, I do NOT believe God plays tricks on us, but has given us the intelligence and curiosity to learn all we can about his miraculous universe!

   I need to start with some basic, indisputable FACTS:

   A. There is NO "flat earth debate"! In a normal debate each side has evidence to support there argument. There is NO credible evidence to support the insane flat earth fairy tale.

   B. The earth is spherical and orbits the sun in a heliocentric solar system.

   C. There is no "firmament dome".

   D. Outer space is real.

   The nicest thing I can say about individuals who have been convinced of the flat earth fairy tale is that they are profoundly ignorant. They probably have not had the benefit of a proper education and thus don't understand the shape of the earth or its position in our heliocentric solar system. The spherical earth in a heliocentric solar system can be proven in so many ways. I have been dealing with this flat earth fairy tale online since 2015. In that time I have never seen a single piece of credible evidence for this flat earth insanity. NOT ONE! I have yet to meet a flat earth believer who knew ANYTHING about physics, astronomy, geography, or geology. As a retired engineer who spent the last 20 years of my career in aerospace, I know all of these areas pretty well. I will put my knowledge of the earth, solar system, and universe up against any flat earth believer and when it comes to provable facts I will verbally destroy them!
   
   Here are a few proofs of our spherical earth, derived from personal experience and observations, not ignorant flat earth believers on crazy YouTube videos.

   1. How about satellites? You probably use them every day, flat earth believers just deny that they exist. Almost everyone today uses the system originally known as GPSS, the Global Positioning SATELLITE System. Flat earth believers claim that GPS works by triangulating off cell phone towers, impossible for two reasons: GPS is available worldwide, including the middle of the oceans. Not too many cell towers there. Also, GPS provides location information in THREE dimensions, latitude, longitude, and altitude. Can't get altitude by triangulating from terrestrial transmitters.

   Many of us receive our television via satellite, we get ours from DirecTV. Take a walk around your neighborhood and check where the satellite dish antennas are located. None will be aimed anywhere near the horizon (unless you are located very far north or south), but at a satellite in geostationary orbit.

   Personally I have communicated through at least SIX different satellites since 1972, in various orbits and all behaved EXACTLY as orbital mechanics predicts.

   2. We have been using charts and tables for navigation and to locate astronomical objects for hundreds of years, and more recently computer programs for these purposes. ALL of them are based on a spherical earth in a heliocentric solar system. They all work, all the time. There are NO similar tools based on the insane flat earth "model". That is because this so called "model" makes NO useful predictions about ANYTHING, other than the profound ignorance of anyone who actually believes it.

   3. While we are talking about astronomy, think for a moment about equatorial telescope mounts. These have been used for around three hundred years, and are used by most astronomers, amateur and professional. The basic principle of operation is that you align one axis, called the polar axis, to be parallel with the earth's axis. On a modern mount, the polar axis is driven by a motor that causes it to rotate once in twenty four hours, opposite the earth's rotation. This keeps the telescope pointed to the same area of the sky as the earth rotates.
   
   Please explain to me how this kind of mount can work on a flat earth. Because it absolutely CANNOT work on a flat earth.

   4. One additional point that ANYONE can observe for themselves, check out sunrises and sunsets, can't happen on your insane flat earth fairy tale.

   Take a look at this, a picture I took from a campsite overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Clearly shows the sun setting behind Catalina Island, impossible on your insane flat earth fairy tale:

   What's your explanation for it?

   5. I should have mentioned one other astronomical fact that absolutely proves that the earth is orbiting the sun:

   Stellar parallax

   I have not personally verified this one, but astronomers worldwide have been using it to measure the distances to many stars since the first measurement was made in 1838.

   I am not going to try to explain it to you, it's more complicated than I want to try explaining here. Here are links more information, including one to a university web page describing it:

   Oh, and where is your flat earth map that actually works? I discovered flat earth believers online in 2015, still waiting for that map!
   
   One more thought, and this is a question for all flat earth believers: Blue Origin has begun taking paying customers above 100 km, where they are easily able to see the earth's curve. Final nail in the coffin of flat earth "movement". Virgin Galactic will be doing the same soon.
   
   Note that I will not accept ANY flat earth believer "evidence" of the form, "I can see xxxx across yyyy miles of the zzzz body of water, which would be impossible on a spherical earth." There is no way this kind of observation can be absolutely verified, since the distance an object can be seen is strongly influenced by atmospheric refraction, and this varies markedly over time.

   I will also not accept anything of the form "those have already been debunked". You must provide exact reasons, supported by credible evidence, why each piece of my evidence is wrong.

   Also note that if even one of my observations is correct, it completely disproves the flat earth. Actually, all of them are correct.

4. It's unfortunate that people like you can be right on so many aspects but then get lost with the conclusions. Aliens and god are the same exact thing, yes we have been created but not for a good purpose, god is not a benevolent entity at all, we are here to be trained to then be used "afterlife" if we pass the training (like AI). What we call aliens or "angels and demons", are god "helpers", god itself is an alien, or better it's an alien software, doesn't have a body in our reality, a simulation, the aliens are virtual representations through which god can act into the simulation (its eyes and hands). I know it's even harder to accept, but if you think about it carefully, you will see this explains the part you couldn't explain to yourself as well.
