The Answer is VERY VERY simple.
Please Read JOHN Chapter 14 verses 2 and 3 :-
"In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.
I am going there to Prepare a place for you.
And if I go and Prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
So that is why Jesus hasn't returned yet.
He's been very busy preparing a place for his people.
I hope this answers all the speculations and questions that Theological circles and Religious Sects have tried to answer.

Jesus will come quickly as in we won't see him coming, there is no warning.
As compared to the almost 4000 years of mankind before He left 2000 years is a short amount of time.
We are nearing mankind's 6000th year on Earth possibly as soon as Rosh Hashanah 2028, then will come a day (=1000year) rest with Jesus.
Rosh Hashanah 2028?
