  1. Jacob was NOT "associated with trickery and deception from his birth until his wrestling match with God", for Jacob legally bought the rights to being the firstborn from Esau when they were perhaps in their 20s for a bowl of "red stew", in which Esau "despised the birthright".(Gen 25:27-34; see also Heb 12:16, 17)

So, when Esau and Jacob's father Isaac was about 137 years old and blind, feeling that his death was approaching (though Isaac would live another 43 years and died at 180 years old, Gen 35:28), he asked Esau to make him "the kind of tasty dish I am fond of……then I will eat it so that I may bless you before I die".(Gen 27:1-4)
It seems that Isaac was never told of Jacob legally buying the birthright from his brother Esau, while perhaps Rebekah was aware of it, for she told Jacob that while Esau was out hunting for some game to prepare as a "tasty dish" for his father Isaac, she quickly prepared "the kind of tasty dish" that Isaac was fond of for Jacob to present to his father, saying for him to "take it to your father to eat, in order that he may BLESS you before his death.”(Gen 27:10)

Jacob though knew that his father would grasp that he was not Esau, for Jacob told his mother: "But Eʹsau my brother is a hairy man, and my skin is smooth. What if my father feels me ? Then I will certainly appear to be mocking him, and I will bring upon myself a curse rather than a blessing.”(Gen 27:11, 12)

Rebekah "took her older son Eʹsau’s finest garments, which she had in the house, and put them on her younger son Jacob. She also put the skins of the young goats on his hands and on the hairless part of his neck. Then she handed the tasty dish and the bread that she had made to her son Jacob."(Gen 27:15-17)

The account now reads: "So he went in to his father and said: “My father !” to which he said: “Here I am ! Who are you, my son ?” Jacob said to his father: “I am Eʹsau your firstborn. I have done just as you told me. Sit up, please, and eat some of my game, so that you may bless me.”

"At that Isaac said to his son: “How were you so quick in finding it, my son ?” He replied: “Because Jehovah (God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV) your God brought it to me.” Then Isaac said to Jacob: “Come near, please, that I may feel you, my son, to know whether you are really my son Eʹsau or not.”

"So Jacob came near to his father Isaac, and he felt him, after which he said: “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Eʹsau.” He did not recognize him because his hands were hairy like the hands of his brother Eʹsau. So he blessed him."(Gen 27:18-23)

Now, some will cry "Deception ! Trickery !", but Jacob had the legal right as firstborn, and the next point is, if it was wrong, then why did Jehovah God bless Jacob for the rest of his life and tell Jacob while at Bethel that he would be with him, causing his offspring to "become like the dust particles of the earth…….and that by means of your offspring all the families of the ground will certainly be blessed", safeguarding Jacob while traveling to Paddan-aram and back ?(Gen 28:14)

Why did Jehovah's angelic representative tell Moses this: "You must say to Pharʹaoh, ‘This is what Jehovah says: “Israel (that means "Contender with God") is my son, my FIRSTBORN. I say to you, Send my son away so that he may serve me" ?(Ex 4:22, 23)

Why did Jesus quote Exodus 3:6, placing Jacob alongside Isaac his father and Abraham his grandfather as being in Jehovah's favor, at Matthew 22:32 ? Because Jehovah saw that Esau had legally sold his birthright for a bowl of stew, and therefore did not call Jacob "to account" for telling his father, Isaac, that he was Esau.

At Genesis 27:30-45, when Esau returned from killing some game and prepared it for Isaac to eat, and Isaac then recognized that he had blessed Jacob, and Esau began pleading for the blessing of the "birthright" to which he had NO legal claim to, Esau now harbors animosity against Jacob and says that he will kill Jacob once Isaac dies, which was also told to Rebekah, who in turn told her 77 year old son, Jacob, to leave Beer-sheba and head to Paddan-Aram, some 400 miles north, between the Euphrate and Tigris rivers, saying:

"Now, my son, do as I say. Get up and run away to my brother Laʹban at Haʹran. Dwell with him for a while until your brother’s rage calms down, until your brother’s anger toward you subsides and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send for you from there."(Gen 27:43-45)

And did Jacob "wrestle with God" at Genesis 32:24-30 ? No. Rather, he wrestled with an angel, having met up with them at Mahanaim (Gen 32:1, 2), for Hosea 12:2-4 states: "Jehovah has a legal case against Judah; He will call for an accounting against Jacob according to his ways, and he will repay him according to his deeds. In the womb he (Jacob) seized his brother by the heel, and with his vigor he contended with God. He kept contending with an ANGEL and prevailed. He wept and begged for his favor. He found him at Bethʹel, and there He spoke with us (through an angel)."
