King David started this ugly roller coaster of death , destruction, murder, rape and a long list of crimes when he had Uzziah killed so he could have Bathsheba. He exercised zero restraint, he went against God,he had a man murdered. He should have been on the battlefield and instead he was in the rear operating base (ROB) getting it on with Bathsheba and causing her to sin!
