Trump bought the property for $7 million in 1985 – now worth $1.5 billion? Inflation! It is also officially made National Historic Landmark in 1980, so it can't be knocked down and replaced – (part of the deed Trump signed at purchase) that lowers the worth of the land a little. Still $18 million does seem low these days.
