  1. Palm beach county appraisal was 18million. There are restrictions on the property that decrease the value significantly. 18 million is not a fair appraisal but it’s not 1.8 billion

    There was an independent appraisal of Mar-a-lago in evidence done in 2007 at the peak of the market for $113 million. $87 million of this amount was attributed to a conservation easement which Trump was permitted to take as a write-off on his taxes. The remaining value of the property was $26 million. At the time when the alleged fraud occurred, which was 2011-2012, the market had fallen substantially since the appraisal was done. So, a value south of $26 million isn't unreasonable. Take aways: Value as of the date of the fraud is what is relevant (vs. today) and important to deduct the value of the conservation easement in arriving a the value.
