Also remember that the fledgling USA only became a nation in 1789 and within a mere 71 years of existing, fought a bloody civil war against it leading to over 700,000 dead and the nation ravaged in order to PURGE the evil of the slavery foisted on us BY the same evil, British empire. That same empire looked for ways throughout that war to help the South because they wanted cotton and only ceased and pretended to agree with the fight for freedom when Lincoln shamed them with the Emancipation Proclamation!
