Nuclear is currently the most expensive way to produce electricity. I will grant that it needs to be a part of the solution in order to provide a stable baseline, we should not be dependent on any one form, but the idea that nuke plants that would take decades to build is the main solution is "living in a dream world."
It is not as simple as 'let's get rid of fossil fuels". Oil is literally used in just about everything we make. So even if we no longer use it as a direct fuel source for a vehicle, oil will be used for many years to come and as noted poorer countries will continue to use the cheapest energy available to better their living standards. The answer will never be a government solution, but will instead be a market driven solution as explained by the guest when horses were replaced by Henry Ford and whale oil was replaced by drilling for oil.
Yes we all have phones Joe, but some of us are not buying new ones every year for the minimal upgrades they sell you on. I have had 3 smartphones since the first one came out and it does everything I need it to do. Its the excessive need to get a new one every year and consume with everything that is the problem.
