All his coaches always said that he would listen to what the coach said, and then execute it perfectly, and while he would disagree, never got into an ego-competition with the coach. He willingly subordinated himself.
Having a huge ego isn't bad if you're honest with yourself, because then it's not "I am always the best", it's "I will always be the best or die trying".
