  1. How can we walk with GOD and JESUS like the faithful men of old? GOD appointed JESUS as the mediator between all of us and HIMSELF. JESUS' teachings, commands and examples are given to us so that we can develop or grow faith like the men of old. In fact the Bible says these men were patterned after JESUS. Walking with a goal to eventually have the ability to obey JESUS' commands will amount to walking with GOD like the faithful men of old. If your local pastor tells you that it is not necessary to obey JESUS' words at Luke 14:33 because you have already given yourself to the LORD, you will never be able to become like those faithful men. If you listen and obey your mediator however you will be able to avoid being distracted away from obedience. Obedience is the prime thing. If you can avoid the distractions and follow the path of wanting to obey JESUS' commands you will get the formula to achieve obedience. The faith of the faithful men came alive only by their obedience to GOD. If you sincerely want to become like them then keep on wanting by continuously asking. It will be given you.

  2. To Lisa who wanted to know how Abraham would definitively know that it was GOD and not some other voice telling him to offer up his son. Abraham had already proven himself to be a man of faith by way of his spiritually strong belief system (see Gen 15:6). According to James 2:18-23, James explained how Abraham was able to add works to his faith by offering up his son. A comparison situation to what Abraham did relates to what we are faced with today as regards obeying or disobeying JESUS at Luke 14:33. Many persons will tell you that it is not necessary to obey Luke 14:33 as long as you give yourself to the LORD you can keep your belongings. If that is the case and you do have the faith to give yourself to the LORD but not the works to prove that you love the LORD then according to James your faith remains dead. No one should boast in having dead faith. Abraham did not do that. He did not question anyone regarding whether it was the right, wrong or sensible thing to do. He knew that without obedience there is no love and without love, relationships are empty and self serving. He also knew that unless blood is poured out no forgiveness takes place and if no forgiveness takes place there is no way to assist others.
