My mother and grand mother will make sure for us not to watch tv for 30 days unless there was a movie of the gospel.we had this amazing enciclopedia of the bible I think around 20 books from stories of the bible. My mother will not bake cookies or cakes during that time. No red or white meat on our meals only fish on Fridays and lots of vegetables and salads the food was not the regular with taste. My mon explain to us because we were children we couln't do any fasting regarding food but spiritually we did with prayers different times of the day.I try teaching my sons now but its difficult as many schools have taken God out of their teachings. So what I do is to take them in my car on a friday after scholl and we drive far away 6 to 8 hours away we get to see the sun set and we pray. Stay in a hotel for one night check the area and then drive back home. Away from tv, xbox, netflix etc. The material world its tempting, to their minds and hearts so that is our scape. And they are not happy for the first hour later they enjoy talking about my mother amd the sweet memories we have of her. Life is not easy but is better when we get away from material things.
As parent we should always prau and bless our children. May the Lord king of kings king of the universe bless us all so could be as he wants us to be.
