Some are trying to tell us that the Hebrew word “khug” in Isaiah 40:22 should be understood to mean “to revolve” (and by implication to orbit). I cannot disagree more.

The real question to be asked is this:
If there were not a single shred of photographic "evidence" to suggest we live on a globe, and no scientist had ever suggested the idea, can anyone honestly say they could read the Bible and conclude the Earth was a sphere?
I think the answer is no, which likely means the Bible isn't telling us that. The idea of a globe is the child of earthly wisdom, and I believe it is defenders of that wisdom that are reading worldy knowledge (foolishness) back into the text, just like those that try to square evolution, big-bang cosmology, etc…with God's Word. Doesn't fit.
The sweet, sweet sound of debate…
And the sad feeling you get when you feel disappointed in a another's argument.
Doug is on the spot, even in the Greek it means the same.. to go around something.. τὸν γῦρον τῆς γῆς,
Isaiah 40:22 is obviously using figurative language. For example, do you really believe that God is physically sitting on the earth? That we are grasshoppers? That the heavens are tent curtains?
Can I suggest we bring in Dr Mike Heiser to expound his views on flat earth, hollow earth or globe earth. 😇
