Excellent program. RE: False Christs–I have watched documentaries on Jim Jones, Applewaite/Heaven's Gate cult and David Koresh. One singular thing they all have in common. They are charismatic and have dynamic personalities. This draws people to them. The second thing–they become self assured and very arrogant–start turning from "teaching about Christ Jesus" to claiming that "I am your savior, I am your God, I know what you need, follow me." Finally, these individual seek to isolate themselves and their followers from the rest of society.
The first time I met someone like this in Oregon–who proclaimed that they "knew the answers outside of the Bible"–insisted I did not need my Church family…and tried to force my front door open…and psychologically manipulate me into leaving everything behind to go with them to an isolated location….I called for help–barred my door–told them to get lost.
It was days later when it hit our local paper that this group had literally kidnapped a 21 year old girl and her brother and police were looking for this group! They were found–leaders arrested and the chapter disbanded in Oregon–called "The Way." Very spooky.
