what happened between Ortega and Luhrsen?
Oh.
I can’t but help point out the uneven playing field these two were on leading up to this fight.
After suffering a tough loss, Ortega was essentially allowed to disappear for 2 years to improve the holes in his game and recover from the damage taken. Which is fine, and his right to do so, except for the fact that his ranking was not compromised in any way. On the flip side Zombie disappears for a similar time frame for mandatory military service, and basically has to restart from the bottom, and work his way back through the rankings. I mean before his hiatus Zombie fought for the title just like Ortega.
Not to mention the fact that Ortega after returning gets a title shot after 1 decision win. Whereas Zombie had to STARCH and finish 2 other top contenders to even get entertained for the idea of a title shot. Yes, he did look incredible against Zombie that night,but all that help that Ortega gets from the UFC kind of diminishes this win for me.
ortegas performance was one of the best ive seen in the ufc. his new camp and having a few yrs off to totally reinvent himself was spectacular. he reminded of a smaller jon jones the he put it together. crazy. big ups for him showing zombie the respect and ending the feud. im back on the ortega wagon. i don't see volkanowski beating this ortega.
