I COULD BE WRONG but if I understand the math correctly, the mountains captured in the world record for long distance photography should not be visible. The top of the most distant mountain should be about a half-mile below the curvature of the Earth.

Why globers say refraction brings up mountains and not other stuff in front of it, refraction must bring everything up, water in front, bulge, not only observed mountain. When you account that you are again on even plain field. They selling you a mirage, fucking magocians.

Do you realize that the reason this photo is noteworthy is because it is rare to see the mountains since they are normally concealed by the curvature of the earth. If the earth was flat this wouldn't be an issue and you should see them everyday but since it isn't, you must have the right atmospheric conditions for the phenomena to occur. The exact same situation applies when occasionally you can see the Chicago skyline from Michigan.
The fact that you can even see these mountains in this rare instance proves the earth is not flat. Way to go.
