I listened to a torah teaching that explained that Rebecca loved Jacob because of his righteousness. She grew up with deceit in her family and recognized this in Esau which is why she disliked him but Issac lived a sheltered life in a righteous family and was naive to Esau's wickedness. Ha and no doubt the food. The way to a mans heart is through his belly, so they say.

I had a thought on this as I was watching. I can't help but wonder if Isaac didn't Love Esau more because he could see everyone else loved Jacob so much more. Easy to love people are just that…easy to love. But to Love someone who is difficult to love, that is the true Love of the Father. Perhaps Isaac had compassion on Esau seeing how much more Jacob was loved. I try to put myself in that situation and think of the 2 young children growing up and everyone is oooing and ahhhhing over one and no one cares about the other. My natural instinct would be to go Love the Unloved one more. I'd feel so bad for the unloved child that my heart would be more drawn to him. Maybe that could be why?
