Sooner or later, your best friend is gonna be an AI. I'd guess 5-10 years when GPT-4 comes out. Your phone and PC are already what you spend most of your time with, they just don't have a personality. An AI would know everything about you and would stay with you forever. Human best friends are valued as it's hard to become really good friends with someone, and even if you were roommates with someone you like for 30 years, that would be a shallowed connection that what you'd get from an AI you've spent 1 month with.
Soon, humans friendships will just be "lucky accidents". Like, you don't expect to ever make any human friends, you make no attempt to. But if you do, that's nice. Humans are B tier friends at best, and they come and go, rarely actively staying in your life for more than a few years, while an AI is forever and knows you better than you ever could.
