(1) the media calling racism is simply to stop all debate. As soon as you call someone racist you signal that everything this person says can be ignored. Example: Pete Buttigieg called infrastructure racist. This was in support of build back better. It was to shutdown any debate. If build back better was fighting racism, then if you opposed it you were racist. This cheapens real racism all in the name of getting votes.
(2) Trump may say he's for you, but it's clear as day Trump only cares about himself. He has thrown everyone under the bus as soon as it was expedient. His lawyer Michael Cohen, Rudy Giuliani, Anthony Scaramucci and most recently former aide Kayleigh McEnany for supporting Desantis. How can anyone think Trump cares about them?
