Tenure sucks. Teachers should be performance based pay. Better teachers should warrant better pay, and crappy teachers should be fired. Cream rises to the top.
Tenure is the single worst thing for medical research in academia right now. Promotes complacency with professors who are no longer required to publish. Tenured emeritus professors are also a huge part of the cost overhead at universities that’s raising tuition costs to the point where this generations student debt will bankrupt them.
