  1. I am an EMDR therapist. It helped me, my family and my clients who have suffered from years of nightmares, anxiety, and that awful persistent feeling that something is wrong with you to the core.

  2. They did such a bad job explaining what EMDR is, I felt the need to comment. EMDR works by taking a memory, trauma, or even just something your wrestling with mentally and reprocesses it. They do this by having you track an object, usually a hand, and think about the trauma. It works because its taking a memory from the storage portion of your brain to the active, you reprocess, and its put back in storage. My eyes were wide open, and I was having intense visuals of things that weren't in the room. After my wife died unexpectedly of acute illness (she was 30 and we had two children under 5), I was part of a study done at USF where they used Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which EMDR was a tool they used, on victims of acute trauma. It wasn't hard, or scary, or caused more depression, I believe because my trauma was acute; not over the course of years. It worked amazingly. I was able to work through a lot of things very quickly. Was remarried within 2 years of her death to a women that completely loves our boys as her own while respecting and nurturing her memory. Highly recommend for victims of acute trauma.

  3. For whatever its worth, I quit caffeine and watching all news and Hollywood movies, YouTube is semi kosher, but anyway; And after not watching mainstream programming, my anxieties are much lower now.
