I think we should stay away from topics of this nature, and pray for them. The politics around why this happened is too deep, maybe look into it from a prophecy or biblical point of view.
Isn't this war going to be about Ezekiel 38 & 39 that talks about Gog (a prince) from the land of Magog (Russia) that will eventually involve Israel? Israel has offshore natural gas in the Mediterranean Sea that they sell to Egypt & eventually to Europe via the EastMed pipeline. Russia won't like the competition in gas sales/revenues since the sanctions are taking effect. Already Iran and Syria are aligned with Russia versus the merchants of Tarshish & its "young lions" (Great Britain & its commonwealth nations of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, etc.). The EastMed pipeline is fairly new under the Mediterranean Sea. Ezekiel 38 & 39 lists the nations involved.
