I came of age during the 1960s and 1970's in Baltimore City, Maryland. I am, to the best of my knowledge, the only hunter, the only fisherman, the only gun owner, and the only Republican voting conservative in a family of die-hard, dyed in the wool, liberal Marxist Democrats. Growing up I was always treated with the type of mild disdain that on television would be exhibited towards a mental defective who couldn't help being what they were. I am the only one of my generation that served in the military, and again, that was held against me, because in my family's eyes, only losers and ultra-right-wing zealots go into the military.
None of my family owns a single firearm. None of them know how to shoot. None of them understand anything regarding gun safety; how to hold a rifle, a shotgun, or a handgun. None of them could be trusted as far as you could pick them up and throw them if they had any type of dangerous weapon in their hands, especially firearms.
What my family are is deliberately, willfully, selfishly, arrogantly, narcissistically, sociopathically, and self-importantly BLIND to any type of real knowledge when it comes to firearms. ALL they know comes from the apocryphal societal stories, mostly mistruths and outright lies, that the well-educated elites, Marxists everyone, have been peddling through a compliant and utterly corrupt Marxist media.
My gut understanding about them is that they are ALL essentially cowards at heart who have surrendered their GOD-given Constitutional right to keep and bear arms over into the hands of local, state, and federal government. They have willingly done this because they would rather someone else be ultimately responsible for their well-being and overall safety, because then they believe that their lives will never be mortally at risk. To actually own any weapon entails and implies a degree of civic responsibility that they simply refuse to acknowledge or accept. Let someone else die so that they can remain safe. Doesn't matter whether that person is a cop, a firefighter, a military person, or an armed ordinary citizen who steps up to the plate to defend his community, county, state, or nation.
The ultimate problem with this state of affairs is that should the time in our nation ever arise where widespread armed civil conflict takes place, and it is increasingly looking as if that terrible possibility might actually occur during my lifetime; then my family members who are ignorant of firearms are going to be extremely dangerous to be around, to both themselves and to others, if and when they decide to arm themselves with a firearm.
It doesn't fit their narrative, how do you get guns banned, if everyone is well educated in gun safety and proper handling?
