Pocahontas: The Bringer of Peace (Native American History Explained) FYTube

Pocahontas didn’t meet the white settlers with resentment and violence, but instead with compassion and love. She would even stand in the way of her own father and chief to save the life of one colonist and was said to become well liked and adored by the English settlers.

  1. Sorry Legends, but you are very wrong. Pocahontas's mother was very important, her name was Nonoma Winanuske Matatiske, and she was of native royal blood. The women in Indian culture are the ones who leads the tribe. My family goes back to the Mayflower, and William Strachey was my 13th great grandfather, and Pocahontas was my 12th great grandmother by her daughter Kaokee, whom she had with Kocoum before she was kidnapped by Captain Argall and kept a prisoner on his ship. Also, the child she had was not John Rolfe's. Pocahontas was gang raped, and we will never know who the true father of Thomas was. Rolfe only married her because he was forced to. They could not bring her back from the ship to her father pregnant without a good story. So they kept her as a prisoner, and brainwashed her during that time. She was also poisoned on the way back from England after they were done using her as a marketing tool for the London Company to draw investors into investing in the colonies. They could not let her live after she saw that John Smith was still alive. There would be no United States today if she had lived and told her father. All we have been told that is in our history books are lies, just what our government does best. Just don't go by what you have read, do more investigating on your own. Look up Thomas Pettus, and Kaokee. I found out about them during my research of my family tree, which is fascinating because me and my family are from Virginia, and again, go all the way back to the very beginning of our nation. I am also a member of the Pocahontas Descendants Initiative. Here is an article that explains a lot, I hope you enjoy it. http://www.southern-style.com/Pettus.htm
