  1. “Only 1/3 need to say they won’t have it”

Yeah but the problem with that is we live in a culture of consumerism and narcissism. Not only will the child be ridiculed for not having a smart phone the parents will get pressure from the other parents. “Look at the thomases, they are broke. They don’t use smart phones or buy their kids jordans".

we value material goods in modern socitey. let me say that again, IN MODERN SOCIETY. this isnt an america issue or a western country isse. ive seen freaking monks at Angkor with their faces burried in their phones.

We need to instill a value system based on something else

  2. Its not just kids. It is parents too. My dad didnt have a phone and played with me after work.
Lead by example and put that "cigarette" down.

Joe needs to equate it with cigarettes. We banned them indoors in the 1990s. We can do the same with phones

  3. Honestly as a 38 year old female, i can 1000% say that instagram definitely impacted my mental health badly at 32. It wasnt about validation. I never posted. It was the algorhythm keeping me stuck in self improvement making me feel i was never good enough and always need to be fixed.

Further more, prime netflix hulu hbo max fb candy crush all take hrs away from us as adults creating more loneliness disconnection singleness lack of bravery/staying in our comfort zones/afraid to talk or be rejected, social awkwards. Depression. Anxiety. Doomsday etc. As a ADULTS. Like why do we need to keep harping on 9/11 every year and reopening that wound. We dont do that with 24 hr coverage of pearl harbor
