Have you ever heard of the Prince of Persia? Why did an angel of God fight with him for 21 days and could not defeat him? How powerful is this satanic principality that Archangel Michael himself would come to help the angel of God?
Very well, my dear listener, in this video, we will be doing a very detailed Bible study of the Prince of Persia, and we will be answering all these questions. In Daniel chapter 9, God showed the prophet a general summary of his plan for the full restoration of Israel. Now, chapters 10 to 12 contain the final vision that the prophet received, and in which we find specific details of God’s plan in relation to His people Israel. On this occasion, his prediction covers the period between the Old and New Testaments, with special reference to the Medo-Persian and Greek Empires.
But finally, Daniel also receives information about the events related to the time of the eschatological tribulation that Israel will experience when the Antichrist appears on the scene. All this information that was revealed to the Prophet Daniel is very valuable to understand the times and events that happened and will happen around Israel.
Now, in chapter 10 of Daniel, we see that a very powerful demon who is identified as the Prince of Persia opposed the heavenly messenger for 21 days so that he could not reach Daniel and give him that valuable information regarding the kingdoms of Persia and Greece that we find in the next chapter. Evidently, Satan did not want this information to reach Daniel and the men. Let’s read Daniel 10:10 onwards:
‘And behold, a hand touched me and made me stand on my knees and on the palms of my hands. And he said to me, “Daniel, beloved man, pay attention to the words that I will speak to you, and stand up, for to you I have now been sent.” As he spoke this to me, I stood up trembling. Then he said to me, “Daniel, do not be afraid, because from the first day that you prepared your heart to understand and humble yourself in the presence of your God, your words were heard, and because of your words, I have come. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for 21 days. But behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I remained there with the kings of Persia. I have come to let you know what is to come to your people in the last days because the vision is for those days.”‘
When the Prophet Daniel received the visit of this heavenly messenger, he was in Babylon. In verse one of Daniel 10, we see that the prophet historically fixes the time of his vision in the third year of Cyrus, King of Persia. The word was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. This places us in the year 536 BC. Two years earlier, Cyrus had decreed that Jews who wished could return to Jerusalem, and more than 42,000 set out on their way back. We find this in Ezra 2:64. At this time, the exiles had already begun the reconstruction of the temple. Perhaps Daniel, due to his advanced age (he was over 80 years old), did not return with the other exiles. Although it could also be that his duties in the government prevented him from doing so.
Now, chapter 10 of Daniel begins with the description of the conflict that the new revelation produced in Daniel. The word was true, and the conflict was great, as it happened before the announced events distressed him and left him worried. As we will see, this great conflict can refer to the fact that Satan himself opposed the prophet receiving divine communication or also to the serious events that the people of Israel would have to go through and that the prophecy announced.
