Now, in America, you choose to falsely take blame and pay a huge payoff for a deferred adjudication, or lose your job and livelihood to spend weeks between jail and trial. This is if you are innocent.
Why didn't they all implicate those in power? If they all proclaimed that, loudly, as they were being led to a public execution, it might have put a swift end to it all. Accusing those in power would not have been a lie, since it is obvious that those in power were doing the work of evil, just as they are today.

Honestly, I would have to go out acting like the people accusing me or torturing me were the real witches, infiltrating God's church and killing innocent people.
"You're the damn witch, and you only want to get the others killed to boost your power, that's why you got kicked out of the last witch meeting Judge, you're already powerful enough to fool all these people, the devil does not appreciate your greed, and you will be bound and blind in hell, while the rest of us dance atop The flames as Lord's and Ladies!"
I mean, if I'm going out and gotta admit I'm a witch to avoid going out as slowly and as horribly as possible, then I'm taking these ignorant evil jackasses down with me.
