Things we know today. There was no Biblical flood that covered all the Earth. The flood story was taken from ancient Sumerian stories written thousands of years before the first Jews or the Tora/Bible. There was a sophisticated global civilization. They were advanced, not as we are today, but they were not stupid roaming cavemen either. A very large meteor hit in what we call Greenland today. This impact was a near-global killer. It caused the seal level to rise at least 30 to 50 feet in about 24 hours. It caused global cartography killing off animals a humans alike. Numerous animals went extinct from the northern hemisphere and around the world at this time. Fossil and ass layers also show this event clearly. In North America Lions, Cheetas, Camels, giant short-faced bears, as well as many others that were once native to N America all disappeared from this continent after the meteor strike in Greenland. As far as the flood, most people lived by the seashores at that time. As humans do today also. So the survivors in what is today Iraq, handed down the flood story until humanity once again gained the beginnings of civilized society. The flood story was actually changed very little from Summer to the Biblical version. Names and minor details, but the basic story stayed intact. Tidlewaves as high as 50 feet or more would have been deadly and those who survived would have thought the world flooded. And not understanding what caused it, they blamed their gods as they did foe everything good and bad.
Just taking reference from the Bible then why not use the oldest Bible the Ethiopian Bible ? Then you would have answer from the book of Enoch
