  1. One thing I haven’t heard discussed yet in these related conversations, is how are you going to incentivize the recipients- of a suggested whole food delivery system, to learn how to prepare the foods into healthful meals – much less incorporate the time needed to prepare good meals into your schedules? It seems like there is a massive assumption that people with debilitating chronic health conditions or low income eligible SNAP recipients, possess these skill sets or even abilities. I’m not intending to assert this in a generalized way. It just seems we need to understand, a lot of people don’t cook from scratch ingredients- even those with the resource$. This is where a more integrated redesigned approach to public education and health plus community outreach and other local resources could play a role. The thing is we have meta-crisis because we aren’t addressing things more holistically and interconnected.

  2. 6:34 Tillicum, WA is a food desert. Liquor, sugar, fast food. ZERO PRODUCE in the entire town. AND no grocery stores by foot or bicycle at all. I have insulin resistance. I know to eat healthy. During 2020-2023 I was out in Tillicum riding my bicycle to Lakewood vie Interstate 5 between exits 122-124 just to get to a Safeway with produce.
