Get ready for an inspiring journey of faith, trust, and redemption as we unravel the secrets of this biblical narrative. Today, we’ll discuss a challenging story from the book of Genesis, the account of when Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, took Sarah, Abraham’s wife, to his palace. This happened during a famine in Canaan when Abraham and Sarah traveled to Egypt in search of food. This story is filled with intrigue and details that often go unnoticed. However, as we look deeper, it contains profound lessons for us, followers of Christ. Lessons about the complexity of trusting in God in a fallen world, lessons on taking the reins when we feel fear, lessons on God’s faithfulness through the highs and lows of life. But before we continue, I invite you to like the video and subscribe to our channel. Abraham, later called Abraham, was a man of great faith. When God called him to leave his land and family, Abraham obeyed, and God led him to Canaan with the promise that his descendants would become a great nation inhabiting that land. The problem was that Abraham’s wife, later called Sarah, couldn’t have children. They were old, and still, they had no heir. However, God promised them a biological child, and the Scriptures say that Abraham believed the Lord, and it was credited to him as righteousness. Abraham’s faith pleased God.

Now, let’s fast forward several years. Abraham and Sarah still have no children, and a severe famine strikes Canaan, making it difficult to find food. Abraham hears that Egypt has food and decides to take his family there for a while. However, before entering Egypt, Abraham is afraid. He worries that the Egyptians will notice the beauty of his wife and kill him to take her. So, he devises a plan. He asks Sarah to lie, saying that she is only his sister, not his wife. This way, he hoped the Egyptians wouldn’t kill him if they wanted her for themselves. Sarah accepts the plan and lies about her marital status. As they enter Egypt, just as Abraham predicted, the pharaoh’s officials notice Sarah’s beauty. Soon, she is taken to the pharaoh’s palace. The pharaoh intends to take her as his wife, unaware of the lie. Here is the plot twist: the king actually commits adultery by taking another man’s wife, but he doesn’t know it’s wrong because Abraham and Sarah deceived him. Meanwhile, Abraham prospers during his stay in Egypt. The Scriptures say he acquired sheep, cattle, donkeys, as well as male and female servants, camels, and donkeys. However, the Lord is not pleased with this situation, so He afflicts the pharaoh and his house with great plagues to expose the deception. The pharaoh summons Abraham and demands to know why he lied about his marital status. Abraham has no choice but to be honest and confess that Sarah is indeed his wife. The outraged pharaoh punishes Abraham for deceiving him and putting him in this compromising position. In his rebuke, the pharaoh reveals a moral sensitivity that we might not expect from a pagan king. We could assume that he wouldn’t hesitate to commit adultery, but clearly, he did, as Abraham and Sarah’s deception caused this man of God to violate his conscience.

  1. Seeking the heavenly embrace of Jesus, may his boundless love and blessings pour into your life like a gentle stream of grace. May the radiance of his protection envelop you, offering comfort in times of need, and may the serenity of his guidance lead you to a life filled with peace and tranquility. Amen!

  2. *Although Abraham and Sarah journeying to Egypt was not a part of God's Perfect Will, it was still in HIs Permissive Will. He still used this leaning on their own understanding to their benefit and even as an opportunity to witness to Pharaoh and his household. God can turn even our messiest mistake into ministry. When we think that our situation is hopeful, then humble ourselves and cry out to God, the Lord is moved into action to fix our situation (on His Timetable, the Way He wants to fix it, for our good yet for His Glory)…
