I always thought it was God punishing lot. He offered his daughters up and it ultimately led to him being a sa victim.
The reason he offered his daughters instead of those men isn't just because it's wrong to treat a guest like that it's also because it's wrong for a man to have sex with another man. They tried to compromise in the churches all the time now about gay marriage and things like that but it clearly states that homosexuality is an abomination and it's not just in that one spot it's here to end in other places.
