  1. That was one of the best balanced conversations I have seen between Neil and Rogan.
The first clips that I have seen really started a dislike for Neil but I am starting to see him differently, as someone I could watch. Rogan is always C.A.F.

  2. Math grad student here. Just some corrections.

0:55 Not always. If by “infinity” he means cardinal numbers, and by “infinity+1” he means taking the union of an infinite set with a singleton set, then yes, they have the same size. However, if he means ordinal numbers or hyperreal numbers, then infinity+1 is actually a different number.

1:34 This is actually false. Transcendental numbers are irrational, so in the sense of subsets, there would be more irrational numbers than transcendental numbers. In the sense of cardinalities, there is actually the same number of transcendental numbers and irrational numbers (just as there is the same number of whole numbers as there are even numbers).

2:03 It actually starts with Aleph0, and it’s not clear if the other Alephs exist (see the Continuum Hypothesis). Also, there are infinitely many “levels” of infinity, not just 5, since for any infinite set, the power set of that set will have a larger cardinality (proven by Cantor).

4:00 Here Neil is describing a bijection or sometimes called a one to one correspondence . However, this is not how all infinities are compared, only cardinal numbers.

  3. I have a problem with the Big Bang theory.
The universe is 15 or so billion years old
It takes millions of years for light to reach us
With how long it takes stars to form and “die” we shouldn’t be able to observe supernovas and black holes shouldn’t exist.
Our sun has a 15 billion year lifecyle according to experts.
By that logic we would still be millions maybe even billions of years away from stars being old enough to supernova let alone factoring in the millions of years it takes the light from said supernova to reach us
The Big Bang theory is flawed
If it were true we would wouldn’t be seeing stars implode or the remnants of dead stars or even black holes.
If the universe is actually 15 billion years old, that’s not enough time for any star big enough to form a black hole
