Ronda was never a bright star. She was over hyped from the jump.
I think Joe is being dishonest here. Ronda was protected by the UFC, who purposely gave her matches with women who were nowhere near to being decent strikers, simply to hype her up. She believed her own publicity – a huge mistake, and got dominated before getting stopped by Holly Holm, and Ronda's narcissism and cognitive dissonance kicked into overdrive. She then got annihilated by Amanda Nunes, and she was conclusively shown up as a hype job and massively overrated.
If she was so good, why persistently refuse to fight Cris Cyborg?!
Ronda didn't evolve, it's not rocket science. She had one approach, but never did anything to build on top of it.
Just imagine if she got some basic strike training for defense and focused on wrestling or BJJ for a few years. She would have been a much greater threat for Holm and Nunez.
