I tend to believe religion is older than academia. Religious institutions feel older, metaphysically (aesthetically). There are aspects of religious institutions that are strong in specific non-scientific ways and the treatment of the scientific community by the religious one is arguably abysmal in contemporary times. I don't think you need to disband the temporal order that is intuitive. If religion preceded science then arguably it is just "equivalent" to the concept of science misunderstood.

The fact that Dennis McKenna was willing to do an interview with JR (after decades of Dennis being almost mythically un-interviewed – with just the old '60s/'70s books to go by)
is the reason I started watching the JRE
(after hearing a lot about the podcast from many folks, and just not biting – basically being prejudiced thinking Rogan would just be a mouthy, self-involved LA meathead…..
…..It was really nice to experience at firsthand my own baseless bias' get deconstructed in front of my own self as I listened to this interview – and now many others) – Top fella 👍
